Identifying the Problem
As a fintech user, I struggled with the lack of clarity in currency monitoring, juggling apps to track exchange rates. This pain point mirrored the frustrations of many users and sparked my vision for an intuitive solution.
Market Insights
Through research, I discovered:
80% of users checked rates multiple times daily.
54% were business owners needing quick insights.
Competitors prioritized transactions over rate monitoring.
Users spent 30+ minutes daily juggling tools.
Design Challenge
The Design Process
Step 1: Research & Exploration
Mood boards explored fintech visualization, mobile-first design, and micro-interactions.
User interviews identified critical needs for simplicity, clarity, and speed.
Step 2: The Visual System
Made use of Grey Finance's existing Color Palette and Typography.
Step 3: Designing Key Components
Currency Cards: Quick-glance rates with clear visual hierarchy.
Interactive Charts: Gesture-based interactions and progressive disclosure.

Users can access live data on various currency pairs, with a clean, simple UI for searching and selecting specific currencies.
Users can access 7-day, 30-day, and 90-day charts, displaying exchange rate fluctuations to give them insights into trends.
Users can automate conversions once their defined thresholds are met, enabling them to take advantage of favorable market conditions without constant monitoring.
A major user request was the ability to set alerts. In Market, users can set thresholds for specific currency pairs and receive real-time alerts when their preferred rates are hit.
Results (Proposed Impact)
The "Market" feature is projected to deliver measurable benefits, enhancing both user experience and platform value. I view of what I anticipate:
+80% user engagement
-60% monitoring time
+40% feature adoption
Takeaways
Empathizing with user pain points drives impactful designs.
Iterative testing is essential for delivering intuitive features.
Lessons Learned
While concluding the design, I did learn to always design with scalability in mind; the Market feature can evolve into a more comprehensive system.
